If you have been active in working life for at least 8 years, you may eligible for an adult education subsidy from the Education Fund.
If you qualify for adult education subsidy for an uninterrupted period of at least 8 weeks, you may be eligible for a government guarantee for a student loan. The amounts of loan guaranteed are as follows:
The terms of the loan guarantee are the same as in the student financial aid system. Your income does not affect your eligibility for a loan guarantee.
Adult education subsidy and loan guarantees can be backdated to the first day of the month preceding the date of application. Two different applications must be filed. Application forms for the government loan guarantee (OT 12; in Finnish) are available from Kela. You can submit the loan guarantee application together with your application for adult education subsidy to the Education Fund or a Kela office, or file it separately with Kela.
