Disability allowance for persons under 16 years of age

Disability allowance for persons under 16 years of age is meant for sick or disabled children. To qualify for disability allowance, the child will have been in need of treatment, care and rehabilitation for at least 6 months to an extent that it imposes a particular strain and requires greater commitment than the care of a healthy child of the same age.

Kela organises rehabilitation for children, but it is mainly aimed at severely disabled children or children with a chronic illness.
