General principles

Your social security coverage on moving to or from Finland depends, first of all, on whether the move is of a temporary or permanent nature. The country to or from which you are moving is also relevant.

When moving between member states of the EU/EEA or Switzerland, social security coverage is governed by the relevant EU legislation. When moving to or from another Nordic country or the United States, Canada, Chile, Israel or Australia, coverage is affected by the terms of the agreements on social security which these countries have concluded with Finland.
