New www.kela.fi adapts to mobile phones and tablets
Kela has remodelled its website www.kela.fi. For customers, the most clearly visible change is the website's adaptability to different devices.
Thanks to the adaptable design, the width of the website and the order of the different elements change automatically according to the screen size of the user's device. For instance, when using a smart phone to access the website, the different elements of the website are shown one after another, whereas on the wider screen of a desktop computer the elements are to a larger extent shown side by side.
– Mobile use of websites is a growing trend. Through this service we react to a growing demand, says development manager Marika Leed.
Kela's website is one of the first public-sector websites with an adaptable user interface.
The test version helped to improve the service
Kela published a test version of the new website in March. People sent a lot of comments on the test version, and the comments helped to forward the development of the site.
– The user comments and suggestions have been very valuable for the development work, says Marika Leed. She especially wants to thank persons with visual impairment, as they have been very active.
The development of the functionalities and the contents of the website will continue also after the publication.
