Since October 2012 Kela has tested online booking of appointments in Tampere and in the regions of Pohjois-Pohjanmaa and Pohjois-Savo. The clients have been satisfied with the service. Especially in areas with long distances the possibility of handling matters over the phone by prior appointment has received special thanks.
Now the possibility of booking appointments online is extended to the whole country. Times will become available according to demand. In the initial stage Kela will follow to what extent the clients want to handle their matters by prior appointment and in which type of matters.
"Booking of appointments supplements Kela's supply of services. It is also still possible to visit the Kela office without booking an appointment, and the fastest way to get advice is by calling our customer service numbers", says Benefits Manager Anne Neimala. "More and more clients want to handle their matters by themselves and apply for Kela benefits and send documents online."
Booking of appointments is useful in situations of change
The booking of appointments is intended for clients who experience major changes in life and who need personal guidance in their Kela matters. Such situations can involve, for instance, loss of functional ability, in which case the client may need several different benefits. For instance, persons who move to Finland can also book an appointment so that the entitlement of the client and the client's family to different Kela benefits can be investigated.
Appointments can be booked at www.kela.fi/appointments. The appointment can be cancelled at the same address. Appointments can also be booked at the Kela office or via the customer service numbers.
