Amount

The Sickness Allowance is usually linked to taxed earnings. In 2013, the allowance is calculated on the basis of your taxed earnings in 2010. In addition, the earnings are multiplied by a wage coefficient.

The amount of the allowance also depends on your status (in rehabilitation, attending school, ill or unemployed), and on fluctuations in income. The minimum Sickness Allowance is EUR 23.77 per day. Even if you do not have any income, you may be eligible for the allowance. In this case, you will receive EUR 23.77 per day at the minimum if you have been unfit for work for 55 consequent days.

Sickness Allowance is paid for weekdays and Saturdays, but not for Sundays, May Day, Independence Day or holidays that fall between Monday and Saturday.
