Description
Statutory child day care subsidies are provided in the form of monthly benefits to families. Their purpose is to provide financial support for the day care of children who are under school age or who have just started school. The subsidy is paid in the form of child home care, private day care and partial care allowances. The statistics on child care subsidies offer statistical information about recipient families, eligible children and expenditures in euro. The statistics on the municipal payments supplemental to the child home care and private day care allowances cover the municipalities that have an agreement with Kela concerning the payment of the municipal supplements.

Recipient of subsidy (family), child for whose care the subsidy is paid and the amount of subsidy paid in EUR.

Data collection methods and data sources
The statistics on child day care subsidies are based on administrative data on the determination and payment of claims. The processing systems employed at Kela's local offices are used to produce an individual-level benefit database, which forms the basis for the statistical registers.
Updating frequency
Published monthly, quarterly and once per calendar year.
Time of completion or release
Data are made available in the Kelasto statistical database within four weeks of the end of the reference period. Cross-sectional statistics are published with a time lag of two months.
Time series
The statistics on child day care subsidies are comparable starting from the year 1997.
