The statistics on reimbursement entitlements in respect of medicines are based on the National Health Insurance reimbursement system for medicine expenses. The statistics on entitlements to special rates of reimbursement and the diseases underlying such entitlements reveal much about the incidence of various diseases in Finland.
Data content
The number of entitlements to special rates of reimbursement and limited reimbursement by diagnosis, the number of new entitlements granted, and the number of entitlements ended on account of death.

Reimbursement category of medicine, disease entitling the patient to reimbursement, general regional classifications and general demographic classifications.
Data collection methods and data sources
Decisions on applications for reimbursement entitlement are issued both by Kela's local offices and by workplace funds. The processing system for reimbursement entitlements produces an individual-level database, which forms the basis for the statistical files.
