Pensioner discounts

After you retire, you can get discounts for example on domestic train, airline and bus tickets.

  • Those 65 years of age or over can get discounts by presenting their ID.
  • Those under 65 years of age can get discounts by presenting their ID and their earnings-related pension card or their national pension card (in Finnish). Discounts may also be available by presenting a Kela photocard.
  • Check the specific terms and conditions at the ticket office.

You may also be eligible for discounts for municipal services and many cultural events. Inquire at the ticket office.

To qualify for a discount, you may sometimes need a national pension certificate. To get the certificate, you can either visit a Kela office or call 020 692 202. In the Helsinki area public transport system, pensioner discounts are available only to recipients of a guarantee or national pension who have a certificate from Kela about their pensioner status.
