Kela card deliveries delayed
Deliveries of new Kela cards will be delayed by at least two weeks due to supply chain issues.
Because of COVID-19, the supplier of Kela cards is facing problems obtaining materials needed to produce Kela cards.
Deliveries of Kela cards will therefore be delayed by at least two weeks starting 18 January 2022, according to legal counsel Antti Klemola of Kela. Some cards ordered in December will also be delayed. “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the delays”, Klemola says.
Normally, new Kela cards are delivered to customers within 1–2 weeks of order.
Pharmacy customers can get reimbursements also without a Kela card
Pharmacies have adopted a query system which allows customers to get reimbursements also without presenting their Kela card. Customers can for example use their ID card to prove their identity.
The Kela taxi dispatch service uses a system that can be accessed to check a customer’s entitlement to direct reimbursements. Instead of the Kela card, customers can present their ID card to prove their identity at the start of the journey.
Customers who need a Kela card sooner than their order can be processed can be provided with a temporary certificate, which is valid for up to a month.
