The purpose of special assistance for immigrants was to provide long-term economic security for immigrants in respect of old age and incapacity for work. With the discontinuation of the scheme on 1 March 2011, recipients were awarded a guarantee pension.

Data content

Recipients of special assistance at the statistical reference time point, amount of the assistance, and assistance expenditure during the reference period.

Type of assistance, composition of assistance, nationality.

Data collection methods and data sources

Compiled from individual-level statistical registers, which are based on benefit databases created in the course of providing special assistance for immigrants.

Updating frequency

Published monthly and annually.

Time of completion or release

The monthly statistics are published within two weeks and the quarterly statistics within five weeks of the end of the statistical reference period.

Time series

The statistics are comparable from 2003. The special assistance for immigrants was discontinued in March 2011. Current recipients were awarded a guarantee pension. Statistics on assistance payments may be updated with retroactive payments made prior to 1 March 2011.
