Card for national pension recipients

Kela sends the card automatically to persons under 65 years who have been awarded a full national pension.

A person who does not receive a full Finnish national pension can also receive the card if he or she does not receive an earnings-related pension from Finland. The authorised pension providers usually have their own cards for pension recipients.

The card is not issued if a disability pension has been awarded as a time-limited rehabilitation subsidy.

Discounts

Together with an ID card with a photo you can use the card to prove your entitlement to pensioner discounts.

Service providers can decide for themselves what discounts and benefits they wish to offer their customers, as well as what documents the customers must present to qualify. For example indication of pensioner status entitles to discounts on travel tickets from VR (vr.fi), Matkahuolto (matkahuolto.fi) and Finnair (finnair.com).

For details, contact the service provider.

Certificate on receipt of a national pension

Sometimes you need a certificate proving that you receive a national pension in order to buy a ticket at a discount. You can request a certificate by visiting a Kela's customer service point or calling Kela's customer service number.
