Employment in another EU or EEA country or in Switzerland can count towards the work requirement needed to qualify for basic unemployment allowance from Finland. The requirement is usually that you must have been employed in Finland for at least four weeks immediately before becoming unemployed.
Periods of insurance completed in another EU or EEA country or in Switzerland can count as well if you present a U1 or E301 form in the country where you are seeking employment. If necessary, Kela can request these forms from the other country. The process can be speeded up if you arrange the documentation yourself.
The web pages on issues related to international situations provide further information about unemployment benefits when you move to Finland or from Finland to another country.
