How to notify Kela if you change your bank account number

If you change your bank account number, please notify us by using our online service (available in Finnish and Swedish only). You will need your online banking codes to log into the service. Alternatively, you can fill out a Y121 form (Notification of bank details) and mail it to us.

Please note that online notification is not possible in the following two cases:

  • If Kela is paying you spouse's pension, orphan's pension or disability allowance for persons under 16 years
  • If you wish notify your landlord's account number so that general housing allowance can be paid to that account

In these two cases, you should complete a Y121 form (Notification of bank details) and mail it to Kela. To find out the contact details of Kela's offices and other customer service points, use the customer service locator.

If you wish to stop the payment of general housing allowance to your landlord, call the customer service line for housing benefits at 020 692 221.

Provide your account number in the IBAN format

Whether you submit the notification online or on a Y121 form, you must provide your account number in the IBAN format.

We advise you not to close the old account before the first payment has been paid into the new account. This is important especially in the case of benefits that are paid regularly.
