Itu course for adolescents

The Itu course is suitable for you, if

  • you are aged between 16 and 29
  • you have been diagnosed with mild or moderate depression or an anxiety disorder
  • your ability to work or study is reduced by a mental disorder
  • your goal is to start studying or to be able to work or continue to work  
  • you want to participate in face-to-face and online rehabilitation.

The Itu course is not suitable for you, if you have a severe mental health disorder, for example severe depression or severe mental health symptoms or an untreated drinking problem or some other substance abuse problem.

The course is also available in Swedish.

Purpose of the course

The aim of the course is to provide support and guidance and to help you cope in everyday life. The course aims to increase your resources and skills so that you are able to participate in a variety of activities in your own living environment.

Content of the course and implementation

The rehabilitation is implemented as group rehabilitation taking each client’s individual goal and need for rehabilitation into consideration.

The course includes group discussions and working in small groups, a variety of activities as well as individual interviews, meetings and discussions with rehabilitation experts.

The course is partly arranged on the service provider’s premises and partly in the form of telerehabilitation. If necessary, the service provider will lend you the device needed for you to be able to participate in online rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation arranged on the service provider’s premises is divided into 2 periods, the first lasting 3 days and the second 2 days. The course is not a residential course. You travel to the course venue from home every day. But, if needed, you can stay overnight on the service provider’s premises.

The telerehabilitation is arranged between the periods of face-to-face rehabilitation during 6 weeks.

  • as real-time videoconferencing in which a close relative of yours may participate
  • as online rehabilitation at a time suitable to you
  • as days of telerehabilitation that include videoconferencing and online rehabilitation. For the days of telerehabilitation, you can apply for rehabilitation allowance from Kela.

The service provider contacts you before and after the rehabilitation.

 

Course personnel

The course is implemented by the following experts:

  • specialist in psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, general practice or occupational health
  •  psychologist or psychotherapist
  • occupational therapist
  • social worker, Bachelor of Social Sciences, rehabilitation instructor or Master of Social Sciences (major subject rehabilitation science).

Depending on your individual needs, other rehabilitation professionals may also take part.
