What is Mobile ID?

Mobile ID is a phone-based method of identification. You can use it if you have a mobile phone and a SIM card that can be used in identification. You can activate a Mobile ID online, by phone or at your mobile operator’s store.

Please note that there may be charges for activating a Mobile ID. For details, contact your mobile operator (for instance Telia, Sonera or DNA). Kela does not charge anything for using its services. Learn more about Mobile ID.

OmaKela identification for other EU nationals

The common European eIDAS is an identification method for EU citizens that you can use to contact Kela with the identification tools available in your country.

After you have verified your identity, you will land on a customer service page where you can

  • write a message to Kela, ask for advice or request Kela to contact you
  • send applications or supporting documents to Kela.

Kela's application forms in PDF format can be downloaded from the Forms page. Fill in the application in as much detail as you can. The application may contain questions that are only relevant to Finnish nationals, such as the personal identity code, which is not required.

Secure online services in OmaKela

Be careful when you log in to our e-service OmaKela. On the internet there are many fake websites that look very much like the real ones. Fake websites can also claim to be Kela. When the unsuspecting user enters his or her online banking credentials on a fake website, the criminals gain access to the user’s online bank and can even empty the user’s bank account. Fake websites can claim to be a bank, MyKanta or Kela.

The OmaKela e-service has no separate mobile application. You can only log in to OmaKela in the web browser at www.kela.fi. Do not log in to OmaKela via a link in your e-mail or via the search results provided by the search engine.
