Pharmaceutical companies: Checklist for price notifications

  1. For each substitutable medicinal product, review the information shown on the list published by the Finnish Medicines Agency Fimea four times a year. Report any corrections/additions required to Fimea within one week of the publication of the list (see timetable and Fimea's forms).
  2. Submit a quarterly price notification to Kela about each medicinal product subject to the price notification procedure under the generic substitution and reference price systems (list of products subject to the price notification procedure, in Finnish). Submit a quarterly notification even if the price is unchanged (see timetable). The notified price will become effective at the beginning of the quarter (1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October), and the price will also be updated in the Pharmaceutical Database and on pharmacies’ price lists.
  3. If the price of a medicinal product which is subject to price notification procedure under the generic substitution and reference price systems changes on some other date than 1 January, 1 April, 1 July or 1 October, notify the change to the Pharmaceutical Information Centre, the Association of Finnish Pharmacies and Yliopiston Apteekki in accordance with their instructions. Depending on the time of notification, the price is updated in the Pharmaceutical Database and on pharmacy price lists on the 1st or 15th of the month.
  4. Products not subject to price notification procedure under the generic substitution and reference price systems: Notify price changes to the Pharmaceutical Information Centre, the Association of Finnish Pharmacies and Yliopiston Apteekki in accordance with their instructions. Depending on the time of notification, the price is updated in the Pharmaceutical Database and on pharmacies' price lists on the 1st or 15th of the month.
