Doctors' fees
Kela provides reimbursement for part of the fees charged by doctors in private practice. The maximum amount that can be reimbursed is equal to a predetermined reimbursement tariff. Reimbursement tariffs can be found here (PDF, in Finnish).
Medical certificates
Kela pays reimbursement for part of the cost of having a doctor in private practice write a certificate or statement, provided that it is being issued for health insurance purposes (e.g., to support an application for reimbursement entitlement or a claim for sickness allowance). The maximum amount that can be reimbursed is equal to a predetermined reimbursement tariff.
Kela does not pay reimbursement for medical certificates issued for the following purposes:
- driver's licence
- admission to an educational institution
- pre-employment medical examination
- applying for a pension or seeking entry into rehabilitation.
