The statistics on child care allowances offer statistical information about recipient families, eligible children and the benefit amounts paid in EUR. The statistics on the municipal payments supplemental to the child home care and private day care allowances cover the municipalities that have an agreement with Kela concerning the payment of the municipal supplements.

Allowance recipients, children covered by the allowances, and benefit expenditure.

Classifications used

Type of allowance (child home care allowance, private day care allowance, partial care allowance, flexible care allowance), allowance component (care allowance, care supplement, municipal supplement), age of eligible children and number of eligible children in family, care provider/care giver, general regional classifications and general demographic classifications.

Data collection methods and data sources

These statistics are compiled from an individual-level dataset on child care allowances. It is produced from the benefit system for child care allowances, which includes all the data created and processed during the implementation of the child care allowance scheme.

Updating frequency

Statistics are published monthly and yearly.

Time of completion or release

Data are made available in the Kelasto statistical database within four weeks of the end of the reference period. Cross-sectional statistics are published with a lag of two months.

The statistics on child home care allowances are comparable starting from the year 1997.
