Different types of families

As a rule, Kela provides financial assistance to families with children in accordance with the same principles regardless of the type of family. Some of the grounds for granting certain family benefits and the periods of payment may, however, vary depending on the type of family in question. The grounds for payment of child home care allowance are, for example, more flexible in the case of adoptive families and in multiple-birth families the parents can stay home to take care of the children at the same time for a longer period than in other families.
