Maintenance Allowance

Kela can pay child maintenance to eligible children on behalf of conscripts who are liable for monthly payments under a court order or a written agreement confirmed by the municipal social welfare board, and are unable to make such payments while performing conscript service. Any income that the conscript may have is taken into account when determining the amount of child maintenance available from Kela.

The Basic Assistance component of the conscript's allowance is not available for children who are eligible for maintenance allowance.
