General social security benefit to be introduced in May
Kela will begin paying a new benefit called the general social security benefit to the unemployed as of 1 May 2026. This change does not affect your status as a Kela customer, and you do not need to contact Kela.
Are you aged 65 or over?
You can see a private general practitioner at the price of the local user fee charged by public healthcare providers, also when you are at the cottage or travellin across Finland. Remember to check that the doctor is participating in the freedom of choice pilot study.
