Help us improve our English-language services by taking part in our survey!

Kela is committed to developing the way it operates in order to promote equity and ensure that all customers, irrespective of first language, are able to access Kela's services seamlessly. To gather insights on the possible shortcomings of its online services, Kela is conducting a survey aimed specifically at users of the English website. The survey will remain open until 17, March 2024.

There will be several changes to Kela unemployment benefits in 2024

The child increases to basic unemployment allowance and labour market subsidy paid by Kela will be discontinued as of 1 April 2024. There will be changes to the work requirement for employees from 2 September 2024. The work requirement will be extended to 12 months and it will be based on wage income.

General housing allowance reduced in 2024

Parliament has approved cuts to the general housing allowance, which will reduce the rates of the allowance in 2024. General housing allowance will also no longer be available for owner-occupied housing as from 1 January 2025.
