The MyKanta application is now the only application in Finland that reminds you of booster vaccines

The MyKanta application will now remind all Finns aged 25, 45 and 65 of the tetanus booster vaccine. The reminder will help many people because it is easy to forget about vaccinations that are repeated so infrequently.

Users of the MyKanta application will now receive reminders about tetanus and diphtheria booster vaccines at the ages of 25, 45 and 65. The vaccine for 25-year-olds also includes a booster vaccine for pertussis. You will receive the vaccination reminder if you have allowed the application to send notifications. The application is the only one in Finland that reminds you of booster vaccines included in the national vaccination programme.

The MyKanta application allows you to safely manage your own health matters. In the application, you can renew prescriptions, read entries made by a physician or nurse at an appointment, check the results of blood tests, etc. The information stays with a person even if their treating organisation or place of residence changes.

The application can be downloaded free of charge from the App Store or Google Play store.

The MyKanta application is available free of charge to all Finns

The technology of the MyKanta application makes it possible to send reminders and messages in other situations as well. In the future, the application could remind Finns about seasonal influenza vaccines, etc.

“The application could also serve as an important communication channel in situations such as pandemics and support the security of supply of Finnish society under emergency conditions,” says Arto Vuori, Director of Information Services at Kela.

However, no decision has been made on the implementation of these functionalities at the national level. Decisions on developing the MyKanta application and new functionalities are made under the leadership of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.

MyKanta is Finland’s most used social welfare and health care digital service. MyKanta has more than one million users every month, most of whom use the service by phone or tablet. The purpose of the MyKanta application is to ensure smooth digital access to health and social services nationwide. The application already has more than 100,000 users.

“The MyKanta application has enormous potential to facilitate the daily life of Finns at different stages of life. For many people, the familiar and secure MyKanta is easier to use as an application,” says Vuori.

Kela’s Kanta Services develops the application in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, the National Institute for Health and Welfare, wellbeing services counties and other stakeholders.

MyKanta in brief

MyKanta is a national social welfare and health care digital service for citizens, and it is part of the Kanta service package produced by Kela.

MyKanta is familiar to almost all Finns: in 2025, the service had 3.25 million users and 41.1 million logins. The MyKanta application currently has just over 100,000 users.

In MyKanta, everyone can view their own health information, such as patient information entered by a physician, prescriptions and laboratory results. It has also been possible to view social service information in MyKanta since 2023.

MyKanta can be used in two ways:

  • by downloading the application to your phone or tablet from the application store
  • by logging in to the online service at www.kanta.fi.

Not all MyKanta features are available in the application. They can still be used in the MyKanta online service, where you can log in at kanta.fi.
