The name of the My Kanta Pages service is changing and will now be called MyKanta

Published 28/2/2023

The My Kanta Pages online service will be changed to the more modern version MyKanta. The Finnish, Swedish and Sámi names of the service will also change.

MyKanta is an online service where citizens can view their own health information and prescriptions. The new name, MyKanta, better reflects the current convention.

"The new spelling follows the current naming convention for other online services. Language and the ways we use language in society are always changing. Accounts for various online services are now typically named using the My-prefix and we wanted our naming policy to reflect that convention. The word Kanta remains part of the name in all languages," says Minna Rantala, Communications Manager for Kanta Services at Kela.

The new name will be introduced in stages

The updated name will be implemented in Kanta services and materials in stages. The first changes will be visible on the kanta.fi website and other communication channels from 28 February 2023.

“From now on, all material will use the new name in Finnish, Swedish, English and Sámi. The existing content will be updated gradually," Rantala explains.

The overall transition period in the various Kanta services will take about one year. The new name will be launched on the front page of the MyKanta website in mid-March, and in the rest of the service later.

The user interface of MyKanta will change

The MyKanta user interface will change in 2023. Usability of the service will improve, making it easier to access services, and the appearance of the service will also be updated. The changes are based on previous user surveys and feedback from customers.

“Our goal is to develop MyKanta into an even more user-friendly and accessible service that we all can benefit from," says Minna Puolanmaa, Product Owner of MyKanta.

The MyKanta user interface is currently implemented in Finnish and Swedish. For example, users log in to MyKanta with their online banking credentials, and the service displays patient information in the language in which the doctor recorded it. Nearly all content on the public kanta.fi website is also available in English.
