The first version of the MyKanta application has been released. The mobile application now allows you to view and renew prescriptions, and to enable notifications concerning new and renewed prescriptions. Other features will be added to the application in stages.

Kela pays partial care allowance to parents of children in the 1st or 2nd year of school who have agreed with their employer on shorter working hours due to child care.

Hundreds of private healthcare providers have joined the pilot study on freedom of choice in healthcare for persons aged 65 or over that is slated to begin at the beginning of September, including large service providers that operate nationwide.  During the pilot study, 1.3 million Finns will have the opportunity to book appointments with a private general practitioner at the price of the local user fee charged by public healthcare providers. Kela will publish a list of all participating service providers on its website by 1 September 2025 at the latest.

Most students in higher education may not be able to get housing benefits in August. However, if you qualify for a student loan, you can start drawing down your student loan for the autumn term at the beginning of August to help you with your housing costs. Some students may also benefit from applying for student financial aid for the summer months.

Kela has received a large number of applications for the housing supplement for students due to recent changes in the housing benefits available to students. As a result, the application processing times for student financial aid and the student housing supplement are longer than usual, and customers may have to wait for a decision on their application.
