Price notification checklist for pharmaceutical companies
- Check Fimea’s list of substitutable products for product details. See the textfile for databases (fimea.fi).
- Fimea publishes a list of substitutable products at least 45 days before the beginning of the quarter.
- Report any corrections and additions you want to make to Fimea within one week of the publication of the list. See the forms concerning marketing status (fimea.fi).
- Fimea publishes an updated version of the list of substitutable products approximately 38 days before the beginning of the quarter.
- Check the Pharmaceuticals Pricing Board’s list to see which products are subject to the price notification procedure. See the list of medicinal products subject to the price notification procedure (hila.fi)
- Hila publishes a list of medicinal products that are subject to the price notification procedure in generic substitution and the reference price system at least 30 days before the beginning of the quarter. The list includes all substitutable products as well as products undergoing a transition period.
- Submit price notifications for products subject to the price notification procedure to Kela no later than 21 days before the first day of the quarter. Check our instructions on how to submit a price notification.
- Kela forwards the notifications to the Pharmaceutical Pricing Board. This means that the price notification you submit to Kela is enough.
- Kela forwards prices, price corridors and reference prices to the Pharmaceutical Database and pharmacy price lists.
- The price corridors and reference prices enter into force on the first day of the quarter. This information is published on the websites of Kela and the Pharmaceuticals Pricing Board at least 7 days before the beginning of the quarter.
- If the price of a product changes during the quarter, report the new price to Pharmaca Health Intelligence Oy, the Association of Finnish Pharmacies and Yliopiston Apteekki in accordance with their instructions. The Pharmaceutical Database and pharmacy price lists will be updated to reflect the new price on either the 1st or the 15th of the month depending on when the new price is reported.
When a product is not subject to the price notification procedure in generic substitution and the reference price system
If the price of the product changes, report the new price to Pharmaca Health Intelligence Oy, the Association of Finnish Pharmacies and Yliopiston Apteekki in accordance with their instructions. The Pharmaceutical Database and pharmacy price lists will be updated to reflect the new price on either the 1st or the 15th of the month depending on when the new price is reported.
