Promotion of digitalisation and data mobility
Technology enables us to streamline customer services and render them more effective. That is why we consider it important to promote data mobility and to dismantle barriers to digitalisation.
Kela wants to make efficient use of technology and automation to ensure better resource allocation and to better meet the needs of our customers service-wise. This allows us to also help customers who cannot use digital services.
Improved data mobility benefits both our customers and society as a whole. Today, there are a number of legislative and operational obstacles to data mobility that impose a burden on customers and authorities alike. For customers, these obstacles create bureaucracy, delays and difficulties in accessing services promptly. Data must move smoothly and securely where it is needed.
Through Eepos, we will reform our benefit administration and customer services and processes as well as our IT systems in stages to ensure that they meet the requirements of the digital first movement. In order for this major reform to be successful, Kela must gain full access to the potential offered by technology and automation.
Kela develops and maintains the nationwide Kanta Services. These services ensure the mobility of patient and customer data between different entities, making Kanta Services a crucial element of social welfare and healthcare services. Kanta Services enable us to engage in knowledge-based management, improve cost-effectiveness and ensure the continuity of care. We want to ensure that the full benefits of Kanta Services are made available in all of Finland.
Aspects related to digitalisation are subject to international regulation, so keeping up with developments in current EU processes is an important part of what we do.
