<h1>Processing times for applications</h1>

<p>Processing time means how long it takes Kela to process an application from the day Kela gets the application to when Kela issues a decision on it. This page gives you an estimate of how long it usually takes us to process applications for different benefits.</p>

<p>We update our estimates if they change significantly.</p>

<h2>Why is the processing time longer in some cases?</h2>

<p>It may take us longer to process an application if</p>

<ul>
	<li>the application is missing information or supporting documents that we have asked for</li>
	<li>we get a lot of applications at once, for example in December–January, if there are changes that affect one or more benefits</li>
	<li>an application has been returned to us for a review because of an appeal.</li>
</ul>

<p>Please also note that our processing times are longer in international situations.</p>

<h2>Mistä pidempi käsittelyaika voi johtua?</h2>

<p>Käsittelyaika voi olla tavallista pidempi, jos</p>

<ul>
	<li>hakemuksesta puuttuu tietoja tai liitteitä, joita on pyydetty toimittamaan</li>
	<li>hakemuksia tulee kerralla paljon, esimerkiksi vuodenvaihteessa, jos tuen määrä tai perusteet muuttuvat</li>
	<li>hakemus on palautunut käsiteltäväksi muutoksenhaun vuoksi.</li>
</ul>

<p>Huomaathan myös, että käsittelyaika on pidempi kansainvälisissä tilanteissa.</p>

<h1>Handläggningstider för ansökningar</h1>

<p>Handläggningstid avser den tid det tar från det att ansökan inkommit tills beslutet har fattats. Du kan kontrollera den uppskattade handläggningstiden för olika förmåner.</p>

<p>Vi uppdaterar uppskattningarna av handläggningstiderna om det sker betydande ändringar i dem.</p>

<h2>Vad kan en längre handläggningstid bero på?</h2>

<p>Handläggningstiden kan vara längre än vanligt om</p>

<ul>
	<li>det i ansökan saknas uppgifter eller bilagor som begärts</li>
	<li>många ansökningar har lämnats in samtidigt, t.ex. vid årsskiftet, om förmånsbeloppet eller grunderna för beviljande av förmånen ändras</li>
	<li>ansökan på nytt har tagits till behandling på grund av sökande av ändring.</li>
</ul>

<p>Observera också att handläggningstiden är längre när det gäller internationella situationer.</p>

<p>When you visit a service point, bring proof of identity, such as your passport or driver’s licence. If you are acting on behalf of another person, you need a specific power of attorney from that person and proof of your identity.</p><p>If you bring your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate, you can manage your Kela-related affairs on a self-service computer at the service point.</p><p>You are permitted to bring a guide dog, an assistance dog or a government working dog to a service point.</p>
