Use OmaKela safely
Kela’s e-service OmaKela is safe and secure to use. Handling Kela-related matters online is also easy and convenient. Your application and supporting documents reach Kela right away. Go to kela.fi to log in to OmaKela. Please note that our e-service is only available in Finnish and Swedish.
How to log in securely to OmaKela
- Type kela.fi in the address field of your web browser.
- Do not log in to OmaKela via a link in your e-mail or via the search results provided by the search engine.
- Click Kirjaudu (Log in) and select OmaKela to go to the OmaKela e-service.
- You will be directed to the Suomi.fi e-identification page. Select the strong electronic authentication method of your choice, such as your online banking credentials or mobile ID, and move on with the identification process.
- If you log in with your online banking credentials, Osuuspankki (OP) may appear as the service provider. If you use a mobile certificate, Telia may appear as the service provider.

- Enter the required information, check it for accuracy, and click Jatka (Continue) to go to OmaKela.
Remember to log out of OmaKela when you are done.
How to log out of OmaKela
- Click Kirjaudu ulos (Log out) when you are finished using OmaKela.
- Clear the browser cache and page history.
- Finish by closing all open browser windows.
By following these instructions, you can prevent anyone else who may use the same device from seeing your personal information.
Don't forget
You can save kela.fi as a bookmark or favourite on your browser by clicking the appropriate icon on the address bar.
- That way you will have one-click access to the site when you want to visit it again.
Make sure your device is secure
- Make sure that you have the latest security updates and that your firewall and antivirus software are up-to-date.
- Read the instructions from the National Cyber Security Centre on the secure use of devices (kyberturvallisuuskeskus.fi).
Watch out for scams
- Some scammers use Kela’s name to trick customers into giving away for example their bank credentials, personal data or payment card details. Such scams may use text messages or email. There are also scam websites that look convincing and that may be included in search results.
- Kela will never use text messages or email to ask for your personal identity code, bank details or other personal information. Kela will also never send you a link to a page that requires you to sign in. If you get a scam message, do not click on any links or provide your personal information.

Frequently asked questions about using the OmaKela e-service securely
When logging in to OmaKela, you are first directed to Suomi.fi identification. If you cannot identify yourself successfully, do as follows:
- Clear the browser cache and try to log in again. You might also try using another browser.
- See if you are able to log in to some other service that is behind Suomi.fi identification (such as MyKanta or MyTax).
- Try using another device.
- Try some other identification method if possible (online banking credentials, mobile ID or certificate card).

If you have online banking credentials but are unable to log into various public services, it is possible that the necessary electronic identification feature has not been activated. Contact your bank.
- If you use a computer that is also used by others and the previous user has left the web browser open, you should always relaunch the browser.
- Always finish by clicking Kirjaudu ulos (Log out).
- Clear the cache and the page history before closing the browser or leaving the computer.
- Close all browser windows.

Also make sure that your connection is working. For example, see if you can reach another website. Kela cannot help with connection-related issues or how they may impact the use of Kela’s services.
