Social security coverage for pensioners
Pensioners qualify for benefits if they move to Finland on a permanent basis. If you are not a citizen of an EU or EEA country or Switzerland, you need a residence permit.
If you move to Finland from another EU or EEA country, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, Kela will determine in connection with your benefit application whether your stay in Finland is temporary or permanent. If you are moving to Finland permanently, you are entitled to social security coverage.
If you are a pensioner who moves to Finland from a country other than an EU or EEA country or Switzerland, you are entitled to social security coverage in Finland if your move is considered permanent and you have a valid residence permit.
