The Oras rehabilitation course is intended for adults aged 18 or over who have mental burnout symptoms that may endanger their ability to work and other mental health symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia or mild depression.

The rehabilitation course is offered partially online and partially on the service provider’s premises. Rehabilitation is primarily given in a group setting.

The rehabilitation course is free of charge.

Who is the rehabilitation course for?

The Oras rehabilitation course is suited for adults aged 18 or over

  • who work or are temporarily absent from work due to sick leave
  • who have mental burnout symptoms that may endanger their ability to work
  • who have mental health symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia or mild depression.

This rehabilitation course is not suited for persons

  • who have a severe mental health disorder or severe mental health symptoms
  • who have an acute or untreated substance abuse problem
  • who need a foreign-language interpreter to communicate during the rehabilitation course.

Aim of rehabilitation

The aim of this rehabilitation course is to

  • teach you ways to understand and manage the challenges and practical difficulties caused by your symptoms
  • support your self-rehabilitation, which means rehabilitation you do yourself in your daily life
  • give you more resources and better capabilities to manage your daily life and participate in society.

The rehabilitation course also offers you the opportunity to get support from your peers and share your experiences with others.

How rehabilitation works

The rehabilitation course is offered partially on the service provider’s premises and partially online as remote rehabilitation.

The rehabilitation needs and goals of each participant are taken into account.

The service provider will contact you before and after the rehabilitation course.

The rehabilitation course is offered separately in Finnish and Swedish. The course is offered in Finnish to Sámi-speaking clients. They can be assigned an interpreter if necessary.

In-person rehabilitation will be given on the service provider’s premises in 2 periods of 5 days. You can stay overnight at the rehabilitation facility or travel there from home each day.

The facility offers accommodation in two-person rooms (double rooms). If you want to stay in a single room, you can ask the service provider if they have single rooms available. You have to pay the extra costs of staying in a single room yourself.

During the rehabilitation course, you will work in small groups, participate in group discussions and have one-on-one meetings with rehabilitation experts.

Remote rehabilitation will start after the first in-person rehabilitation period. The remote rehabilitation part of the course is implemented over a period of 8 weeks.

Remote rehabilitation consists of online rehabilitation and video calls.

The online rehabilitation includes online reading material, recordings and videos as well as various assignments and exercises. You can do the online rehabilitation tasks at your own pace. Professionals will give you guidance during the online rehabilitation and give you feedback on completed tasks.

The remote rehabilitation also includes 3 individual video calls. Each video call is about 45 minutes.

You do not need to have special computer skills to participate in remote rehabilitation. You can borrow a device from the service provider if you need one to participate in the remote rehabilitation. Kela also offers help and guidance with accessing remote rehabilitation.

The experts involved in your rehabilitation

The following experts will plan and manage your rehabilitation programme:

  • a psychiatrist or specialist in general practice or occupational healthcare
  • a psychotherapist or registered nurse
  • a psychologist
  • a physiotherapist or occupational therapist.

Other rehabilitation professionals may also contribute to your rehabilitation depending on your individual needs.
