New and improved Kela.fi website launched – no changes to OmaKela e-service

Published 3/10/2022

The Kela.fi address and the site’s contents will remain the same, but the site has undergone a redesign. E-services will be not be impacted.

A new and improved version of the Kela.fi website has been launched. The purpose of the new website is to improve the customer service experience and to offer added support to e-service users. The new launch will also allow a series of further changes at Kela.fi that will improve the site’s usability and accessibility.

The biggest changes are in the website’s look and feel and the navigation features. The website’s address and structure remain the same.

The new website is more resilient and easier to use on mobile devices. Navigating between different language versions is easier.

“We've taken to heart the feedback we’ve received from our customers and partners”, says Maija Luotonen, the Kela.fi editor in chief. “One of the changes we've made is to make it easier to navigate between the site’s different language versions.”

The relaunch of the website on the new platform will impact the content on the site but the e-services will not be affected. The OmaKela e-service for customers and the e-services for partner organisations and employer will continue to work as before.

Content to be added later

The new Kela.fi website will be launched on an expedited schedule in order to safeguard access to services.

“Unfortunately, we will not be able at the outset to meet all of the requirements we have set for the website, but we are making a concerted effort to ensure that kela.fi will serve all of our customers as soon as possible”, Acting Director of Communications Ville Korhonen says.

Initially, the website will be available as a version that lacks certain features, such as a service point locator tool, instead of which there is a link to the Suomi.fi service map. Still, the new website features most of the content on the old kela.fi website.

“Content on the webpages targeted at customers remains the same”, Luotonen says, adding that the section for partner organisations may initially lack some content, which will be added as soon as possible.

Give feedback

Development of the website continues. Users will find a feedback form at the bottom of each page that they can fill in to provide feedback on a specific page. Feedback is important for improving the website further.

Kela.fi has one of the largest visitor counts among Finnish websites, recording more than 56 million visits in 2021. There are nearly 8,000 individual pages on kela.fi. The website caters to individual customers, employers, Kela’s partner organisations and other stakeholders.
